Jean would even go alone with photographer Joyce Widoff for Hospital visits when other Show cast members couldn’t go; but then she would also take along her little sidekick Chihuahua, Ponchita, to visit “her men”

HOSPITAL VISITS

Jean and the gals never missed an opportunity to make visits to Military Hospitals during these years also. It was not something I was capable to cope with – I can’t even watch medical shows on TV! – but, those women were great as they went from bed to bed talking with the GI’s.

Sheri Alberoni and Jean made many trips together.  Some of the other Show cast members that would join them were Ella Edwards, Lee Dawn, Carol Laird, Bob Tiedemann and Mike Lansing.  Of course, Colonel McCain would also be with the troup.

TOYS FOR TOTS
Jean was very proud to be a part of the Marine Corps Toys For Tots campaigns over the years and became one of the celebrity spokespersons, plus utilizing photos taken with our two adopted sons, Shybe and Shawn.

OTHER CONTRIBUTIONS

Over the years, Jean worked with Jimmy Sheldon, Hollywood U.S.O. director, and made three USO tours to Vietnam - - even during the times of the Pendleton Shows.  We also made treks to Air Force Base events and personal appearances on Navy ships and Jean would take Show regulars with her on these occasions.  Jay North, Dennis The Menace TV star, went with on a couple of the Naval ship treks, I remember, but unfortunately those photos have evidently been lost.  Because of the honors we received from our home State South Dakota Governor's Farrar and Kneip, we found traveling to visit our folks in South Dakota and Minnesota even got us into the local papers telling folks about the Pendleton Shows.
